The hardest part of the move — and the most important
Kitchen and AC removal and reinstall when you move
In most Saudi homes the kitchen and the AC units are among the family’s most valuable possessions, and also what needs the most skill in a move. A kitchen comes apart piece by piece and has to be refitted in a space that may differ, and a split AC unit can’t be removed like any appliance: it has refrigerant, copper pipes and electrical connections that need a technician.
With SaudiMoving you can request kitchen and AC removal and reinstall with your move or on its own, and your request reaches movers and technicians in your city who contact you with offers.

What does kitchen and AC work include?
Kitchen removal
Upper and lower cabinets and the worktop removed, numbered and wrapped.
Kitchen refitting
Cabinets reinstalled and adjusted, with small cuts or changes if the space differs slightly, as agreed.
Split AC removal
Refrigerant pumped down into the outdoor unit, then both units and the pipes removed carefully by a qualified technician.
AC reinstall
Units mounted in the new home, pipes and power connected, cooling checked and gas topped up if needed.
Window AC units
Usually simpler to remove and refit, but they need a suitable opening in the new home.
Built-in appliances
Built-in ovens, hoods and dishwashers, with connections disconnected before the move.
How removal and reinstall should be done
The kitchen and AC units are usually removed at the end of the move at the old home, because you need them until the last day, and installed first at the new one. Kitchen removal starts by emptying it and disconnecting water, power and gas, then removing doors and upper cabinets, then the lower ones, numbering every piece by its position.
A split AC unit is removed by first pumping the gas into the outdoor unit, then disconnecting and sealing the pipes, then taking down both units. At the new home the units are mounted, the pipes connected and checked for leaks before switching on. Large and central systems need a specialist technician, not a mover.
What to prepare before removal
- Measure the kitchen space in the new home and compare it with the old kitchen before deciding to move it.
- Empty the cabinets completely and pack kitchenware in separate boxes.
- Decide where the AC units go in the new home, and check there are suitable openings and wiring.
- Ask the old home’s landlord whether anything must stay, or whether unit mountings must be repaired after removal.
- Consider whether moving an old kitchen is worth the cost compared with a new one.
Common problems and how to avoid them
The kitchen doesn’t fit the new space
Measuring before removal saves the cost of moving and refitting.
AC gas leaks
Happen when a unit is removed without pumping down, or pipes are badly connected. Ask for a qualified technician.
Cabinets damaged during removal
Especially in older kitchens. Careful removal and numbering reduce damage.
Extra charges for gas and parts
Gas top-ups or new pipes may be charged separately. Ask in advance.

Kitchen and AC FAQ
Is an old kitchen worth moving?
It depends on its condition and whether it fits the new space. If it’s in good shape and the sizes are close, moving makes sense; if it’s old or the space is very different, a new one may suit you better.
Can a mover remove an AC unit?
Sometimes window units; split and central systems need a qualified AC technician because of the refrigerant and connections.
Is the kitchen refitted the same day?
For moves within a city, usually the same day or the next, depending on the size of the kitchen.
Will the AC need a gas top-up after moving?
Not always if it was removed properly, but it may if the pipe run is longer or there was a leak. The technician decides.
Do you provide the service yourselves?
No. We pass your request to movers and technicians in your city; the agreement is directly between you and them.
What about the AC openings in the old home?
Removing AC units leaves openings and mounting points. Agree with the landlord in advance on what’s needed, and ask the company whether closing or repairing them is part of the offer.
