So your furniture goes back the way it was

Furniture disassembly and assembly: bedrooms, wardrobes and beds

Most damage to furniture in a move doesn’t happen on the road but while it is taken apart and put back together: a screw tightened too far that cracks the wood, a part removed without a number that loses its place, a wardrobe door hung crooked that never closes again. That is why dismantling and reassembly is the work of a carpenter or fitter who knows furniture — not just a loader.

With SaudiMoving you can request disassembly and assembly on its own or as part of a full move, and your request reaches movers, carpenters and fitters in your city who contact you with offers.

What does furniture disassembly and assembly cover?

  • Bedrooms

Beds, bedside tables, dressing tables and wardrobes — what needs dismantling most in any move.

  • Large wardrobes

Sliding or multi-hinge wardrobes that need careful adjustment after reassembly.

  • Children’s beds and desks

Bunk beds, study desks and shelving, taken apart and rebuilt with separate screw bags.

  • Dining tables and majlis

Removing the legs of large tables and some modular sofas so they fit through doors.

  • New flat-pack furniture

Assembling furniture you bought flat-packed, following its guide.

  • Wall fixing

Fixing tall wardrobes and shelves to the wall when agreed — important in homes with children.

How disassembly and assembly should be done

The fitter starts by emptying the furniture completely, then removes doors and drawers first and the frame last. Parts are numbered with a marker or stickers, each piece’s screws go into a bag with its name on it, and surfaces and corners are wrapped. For complex pieces the fitter may take photos before dismantling so it goes back exactly the same way.

At the new home the large pieces are assembled in their final places first, then doors and drawers, then adjustment: the wardrobe level, doors closing, the bed steady. A good fitter doesn’t leave before opening and closing the doors with you.

If furniture is old or made of particle board it may not survive being taken apart more than once. The carpenter can advise whether to move it whole or reinforce it.

What to prepare before disassembly and assembly

  • Empty wardrobes and drawers completely before the fitter arrives.
  • Keep assembly guides if you have them, or find the model number.
  • Decide where furniture goes in the new home before assembly, so nothing is moved assembled from room to room.
  • Leave clear floor space in the room for the fitter to work.
  • Tell the company about any new flat-pack furniture to be assembled the same day.

Common problems and how to avoid them

  • Lost screws and parts

The simple fix: a screw bag per piece, and one big bag kept with you or the crew lead.

  • Wardrobe doors that won’t close

Adjusting hinges is part of assembly, not an extra. Ask for every door to be tested.

  • Cracked wood at the screws

Happens with particle board and over-tightening. An experienced fitter knows each material’s limits.

  • Unfinished assembly due to time

When assembly is part of a big move, ask how many carpenters are coming and how long it will take.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Will a carpenter or fitter come, or movers only?
  • Does assembly include adjusting doors and fixing wardrobes to the wall?
  • How do you keep screws and small parts?
  • Is it priced per piece or within the moving package?
  • What happens if a piece is damaged during disassembly or assembly?

What affects the price of disassembly and assembly?

We don’t quote prices, but these factors decide the offer:

Number and type of pieces

A large sliding wardrobe is different from a simple bed.

Condition of the furniture

Old or weak furniture needs more time and care.

Wall fixing

Adds time and materials such as screws and wall plugs.

As part of a move or separately

The price within a home move differs from a separate visit for disassembly or assembly only.

Furniture assembly FAQ

Can I request assembly only, without a move?

Yes — you can choose furniture disassembly and assembly on its own in the request, for example new flat-pack furniture or moving a room within the same home.

Is all furniture dismantled before a move?

No. Pieces that won’t fit through doors or would be damaged if moved whole — large wardrobes and beds — are dismantled. Small pieces usually travel assembled.

Is furniture reassembled the same day?

Usually yes for moves within a city. For big moves or moves between cities it may be the next day, so ask in advance.

What if a screw goes missing?

The fitter can usually supply a suitable replacement, but it’s better to prevent it with labelled bags.

Do you provide the assembly service yourselves?

No. We pass your request to movers and fitters in your city; the agreement is directly between you and them.

Can you assemble furniture I bought online?

Yes — fitters assemble flat-pack furniture using its guide. Give the number and type of pieces in the request, and the model number if possible when the fitter contacts you.
